Why can't I turn off "mirroring" in AirPlay in iOS 10?

I stream music from my phone to our office TV waiting room via our AppleTV. Now my clients get to read my incoming text messages....FAIL!!

Is that feature completely removed? How can I turn it off and have it just play without mirroring. Thanks
